Welcome to our podcast!

We are Mark and Sandi Brock. We farm together, parent together and somehow still live together after 21 years. Over the years we’ve experienced stuff.

Good stuff, bad stuff, ugly stuff and nice stuff.

We’ve seen farming change. Evolve. Innovate. Create.

And then we saw it slowly go from being a trusted symbol of strength, perseverance, and legacy to one of shaky resolve. Be it political, social or financial… farming is suddenly feeling somewhat unPopular. Its our mission to sit together and talk about the things top of mind making us feel this way. Letting you, our listeners literally be a fly on the wall. Maybe you agree. Maybe you don’t. And that’s ok. That’s the point of this podcast.

Mark:

A life-long farmer who studied Agronomy at the University of Guelph before coming home to sell seed for 10 years and operate D&D Brock Farms for 13 years. During this time, he stepped up politically as Chair of the Grain Farmers of Ontario and committed time off the farm to push the grain industry ahead. A big dreamer, and bigger thinker, he is able to meet people who push him professionally, politically and personally.

In 2012, Mark and Sandi branched off on their own to own and operate Shepherd Creek Farms, a dream for them both.

Sandi:

Also a life-long farmer. Raised a dairy farmer’s daughter, Sandi is no stranger to the barn. After studying for an Agriculture Business degree, she too came home to farm with her in-laws managing a large broiler breeder business.

In 2012, after branching off to begin farming with Mark full time, her animal of choice changed from one with feathers, to one with wool. She now manages a sheep flock of 450 ewes.
